SVLK (Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu) or Indonesian Timber Legality Assurance System is an Indonesian certification scheme to assure the international timber market of the legality of its timber products from planting through to logging and processing.

CARE AND USE:

Recycled teak: Recycled teak is characterised by visible marks, scratches and minor splits that are a natural part of the style and character. Recycled teak reacts in the same way as new teak when exposed to the elements. Teak will naturally weather to silver colouring on the surface when exposed to the sun over time, this is a sign that the natural oils of the teak are evaporating. For spot cleaning, spray off any debris with a hose and brush off any dirt or debris with a soft-bristle brush. Spores that create mould and mildew thrive in environments with dirt and moisture. Dry with a soft cloth. For more thorough cleaning, we recommend using a hardwood/teak cleaner. Furniture should be thoroughly cleaned periodically and always before storing. In addition, we recommend using a hardwood/teak shield protector which penetrates and protects hardwood furniture against mould, mildew and ultraviolet rays. If you wish to retain the natural golden colour of your teak furniture, we recommend the use of a specialised teak sealant. This will not alter the strength or longevity of the furniture, just the appearance. Your furniture must be exposed to the outdoor elements for 4-6 weeks before applying the teak sealer. If your furniture does not become wet from the rain during this time, hose with fresh water weekly to wash away any dust and naturals oils, a slight sand can be given prior to adding sealant if required. Follow the instructions provided with your teak sealer carefully for the best results. Alternatively, adding a light timber oiling will give added protection to your furniture. Oiled teak is susceptible to mildew and will be subject to irregular colouring as it weathers. Continue to coat with a clear timber oil once or twice a year to maintain the added protection of your furniture. A slight sand can be given to your furniture prior to oiling if required.

General care and use: 

Ensure furniture is dry and protected from the weather. It is recommended to use an outdoor furniture cover and to store furniture in a cool dry area when not in use. Before covering, furniture needs to be thoroughly cleaned and dried. Cushions should be removed and stored in a dry place if possible.

Avoid letting water stand on the surface of your furniture.

When moving furniture carefully lift, do not drag across the ground as may cause damage to the furniture.

Ensure no chemicals come into direct contact with the furniture if this occurs clean the furniture immediately.

Fittings: Bolts, nuts and screws should be checked periodically to ensure they are still secure. Do not over tighten as this may damage the threads.
